Cayman Islands Golf Cart Race Successful

Last weekend the Great Race for Grace island residents and visitors raised over $63,000 US dollars to support the Frances Bodden Girls Home and Feed Our Future local charities.

It was a great success and had a lot of participation, press coverage, and spectators.

As noted in the Cayman Compass newspaper: “The event was very successful,” said Tom Sperandeo, the event coordinator. “Close to 300 people attended the golf cart race and everyone had a really good time.

1st Place went to Tom Sperandeo and his son Tommy.  Our very own Andreas Greve-Isdahl took 2nd place, while the Cayman Islands Minister for Sports, Osbourne Bodden, came in 3rd.  Mark Van Develde was the winner of Best Golf Cart in Show.

Also participating in the race were Erik Henriksen, James Bergstrom, Tabitha Crowley, and John-Kaare Aune.

On Friday evening with the support of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Five Mile Capital, the 2 golf carts built by the students of the Cayman Islands Further Education Center were auctioned off for $15,000 and $16,000.  Erik Henriksen, the Founder of our Foundation agreed to match the money raised.

Overall it was a great event and we look forward to doing it again next year.
