Olemoncho springCurrent projects
On January 15, 2016, The Aqua Nirvana Foundation met with the water council for the community of Olemoncho in Kenya. It was agreed that ANF, along with our partner, Basecamp Foundation, would build a containment system for a local spring. Presently, the spring is shared with livestock and wildlife. The women of the nearby villages have to fill their large containers with a small pitcher, which takes a lot of time. The new containment system will allow them to fill their containers straight from a tap. We will also provide a pipe to a nearby school where the students will have access to the water. A separate trough will be built for the cattle and wildlife, which will keep the drinking water cleaner and safer for the local villagers.
On February 4, 2016, The Aqua Nirvana Foundation, along with the water council met with the local contractor and finalized plans for the construction of the project. Two water kiosks will be added to the original plan. These kiosks will provide a point of sale for the water, which will generate income to maintain the system. Construction will begin on February 11, 2016 and will take 8 weeks to complete.
